Pupils Understanding Problems In their Locality

This scheme is funded by the European Social Fund. It aims to raise awareness of crime prevention and community safety issues for pupils in year 9 through to year 13, in the comprehensive and special schools of Rhondda Cynon Taff. Each week the schools work on a project of their choice with their respective Schools Project Officer.

Each September the pupils have the opportunity to participate in a team building and activity weekend at an outdoor pursuit centre. This year the pupils attended Boreatton Park, Shroppshire from Friday 21st, September 2007 to Monday 24th, September 2007. In total, 80 children attended. During this weekend the young people embarked on a number of activities including Initiative Exercises and Challenge Courses.

Every March each school participates in a Presentation Evening. This Year we are pleased to announce that St. John Baptist Church in Wales High School have won the coveted 'Chris Fletcher Memorial Shield' in the Cynon Valley area.
Treorchy Comprehensive School were the overall winners in the Rhondda area and Hawthorn Comprehensive were overall winners in Taff Ely.

Next years presentation evenings are to be held at The Cwmaman Institute for Cynon Valley schools, Llwynypia College for Rhondda schools and The Muni, Pontypridd for Taf Ely schools.
Participants are also able to gain OCN accreditation for their involvement in the PUPIL scheme.
